Taijiquan originated in 17 century in Chenjiagou, We County, Hennan province, China with a long history of more than 300 years. It is created by Chen Wangting(the 9th generation of Chen family) who was born in 1600 and died in 1680, the period between late Ming dynasty and early Qing dynasty. Chen Wangting was well versed in civil and martial arts and had a profound skill. During the time of living in seclusion, he created an internal power Quan on the basis of adopting his ancestors, studying the theory of Taiji Yin-Yang and traditional Chinese medical Jingluo and the method of health preservation of Taoist breathing. The internal power Quan emphasizes on Yin-Yang Combination, Hardness and Softness alternation and Internal-External Cultivation, so it is named Taiji Quan. The creator’s family name is Chen, it is therefore called Chen style Taijiquan. The Taijiquan passed down from Chen Wangting includes Taijiquan(1 to 5 lu),Paochui(1 lu),Changquan(108 forms),Hand-push and weapons such as Glaive, Spear, Sword, Stick and 2-peole spear, etc.. When passed on to Chen Changxing, the 14th generation of Chen family, Taijiquan was made much more progress. He refined and transformed the Laojia from this ancestor into the present poplar ones: Laojia Yilu and Laojia Erlu.(Old form, Rountine 1 & Rountine 2)
Yilu(Old form R1): easy movements, major on softness and minor on hardness, open when move and close when stop, one move makes all move, mainly with the features of softness, slowness and stableness.
